The history of The Art Institute Onlne begins with The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, which was founded in 1921, more than 80 years ago. The Art Institute Online was launched in the year 2000 as a division of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh and offers 13 creative-focused academic programs.
The Art Institute Online, a division of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, is a part of The Art Institutes, with 31 education institutions located throughout North America, providing an important source of design, media arts, fashion and culinary professionals. Student enrollment exceeded 66,000 as of fall 2004.
